That is the current controversy.  Should we forever abandon our paper maps in favor of the new electronic gadgets with gps mapping?  Personally I use both paper maps and a hand held gps unit right now.  I am still getting used to the new-fangled maps on small screens.  And sometimes I lose the map out in the woods.  So it makes me want to have both.  The map should tell me where the trail is headed, and the gps unit can tell me where I am.  It is up to me to figure out what I need from the two of those.  I am enjoying getting to know these electronic gadgets, but I am not ready to put away my paper topo maps on a hike just yet.  What about you?
